I was amazed to discover that this bird is on the EPBC Act list as Critically Endangered. It doesn’t seem very uncommon around here. We must be very lucky.

The chicks are gorgeous, and very curious, running all about the place, while their parents keep a careful eye and make sure they’re not getting too close to people.
