These gorgeous birds were captive. At Currumbin sanctuary.
Another captive bird that chooses to stay where it lives.
While this pelican was performing, and was “part of the collection”, he was not caged, nor tethered.
I’m not sure why these were in the conservation area at Currumbin, but I’m glad they were, or else I wouldn’t have seen them!

More birds from the conservation area at Currumbin Sanctuary. Also known as the Chestnut-breasted Munia, or bully bird. I wonder if it is a bully – it’s hard to imagine such a tiny bird...
This was another of the birds in the conservation area at Currumbin, but I’m not sure why. Glad I got to see it though! Hopefully I’ll get to see some in the wild next...
